Good day Moms and Dads,

As all of you are aware, Monika and I, as well as the rest of our siblings are planning a surprise baby shower for Elisaveta. I trust that our plans are still a secret Please be aware that Roderich is only aware that we are holding a baby shower, but he has not been exposed to the finer details – we’d like to keep that as such.

At our last meeting we came up with a number of items that we would like to give to the lucky couple, and decided that we want to give the new grandparents the first preference as to what they will give. The suggestions are below:

• stroller
• car seat
• linens
• clothes
• toys
• nursery items (furniture, décor, etc)
• books (for baby and parents)
• camera
• baby bag
• food processor
• hygiene items
• coupons, gift certificates
• Maybe something for Liz, like a massage
• Possibly a dinner for two, or some such thing, that Liz and Rod can use when they need a break
• We can’t think of anything else! We’re sure that you can though, so please feel free to suggest something else.

Basically, we wanted to send this list to you, so that you can choose first what to give, and also to avoid any duplicates. Please feel free to reply and let us know what you’ll be giving.

Wonderful initiative, girls! It’s certainly refreshing to see you Beilschmidt children settling down to do something constructive! I’m sure that Elisaveta will be overwhelmed with gratitude.

Frederich and I have talked it over, and since we saw the most perfectly designed car seat at a store the other day, we’ll be giving that to the expectant couple.

Hello everyone, and kisses to you, my lovely Jolanda <3 Tears sprang to my eyes when reading the email. I can’t believe that we’re about to have our first grandchild! I always thought I wouldn’t want to be called Oma, since it would make me feel old, but now I can’t wait. Liz really will be overwhelmed – I suggest that we all keep our cameras at the ready, haha. I’m certainly looking forward to meeting you as well, Mr. and Mrs. Edelstein; I’ve heard so much about you.

Gabe and I would like to give the gifts for Roderich and Liz, both the massage and the date night. I think that that will mean a lot to them (I’m sure you know all about that, eh Jolanda? hehe). We’ll work on collecting some gift cards as well. I’m sure that Roderich, especially, will appreciate those.

Annie, if you find you’ve overwhelmed yourself with the cooking, don’t hesitate to give me a call, I’d love to help.

Well, it is well said that it takes a village to properly raise a child, much less six children. I was certainly fortunate to have close family nearby while raising my own children, so I shudder to think at what a disadvantage you must have been, Jolanda. However, they are all still young, and may be redeemed yet, though it does cause one to reflect on the merits of proper family planning. I am certainly grateful for the time that Roderich was able to spend in my home, under my nurturing care.
